Evening Support Program for Exceptional Children and Students

Special needs kids are often placed in a special needs general classrooms in the local public or private school. This option can work well if the teachers are well trained and experienced in teaching these children. With school timing to meet academic calendar, some of the special needs kids miss out enough time to learn important skills during school hours. And others, for many years, have been struggling to develop and acquire necessary skills needed to succeed in the world around them. These students, need additional time to learn some skills in order to be able to support themselves later in their life.

With this reality in mind, Sarms Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre has introduced a special evening program to offer part-time therapeutic hours to bridge the gap.

Our Speech and Language Special Teacher, Occupational therapist, and Educational Psychology consultant, will facilitate this program. A minimum of two hours for a minimum of 3 days per week can be sufficient to help a child reach his/her maximum potential of independence.

The program is designed to improve the following skills:-

  • Executive Functioning Skills
(self-monitoring, paying attention, Initiating tasks and staying focused on them etc.)
  • Communication skills
(If your child struggles with spoken language, a critical step for increasing independence is strengthening his or her ability to communicate)
  • Social skills
(working in a group, interacting with others, asking for help etc.)
  • Personal Care skills
  • Practical Money Skills
