“The same at home” a free program for Maids, Parents and Caretaker
Taking care for special needs children can be both physically and emotionally challenging, especially when someone has to meet other demands at home and or at work. Most may also feel loneliness and unsupported as the main caregiver.
In daily living activities, such as bathing, feeding, toileting, transfers and walking, the need to be familiar with handling techniques, the need to be informed about the needs of the child and what treatments are most effective can be very challenging and frustrating. In order to be an effective advocate for your child, it will help if Maids, Parents and Caretaker have an idea of what specific activities are most helpful for children with specific need child.
Sarm’s Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation centre has introduced a special program called “The same at home” for Maids, Parents and Caretaker who spend most of their time with children with the special needs children. It is a free program for Maids, Parents and Caretaker whose children have been adequate assessed and practice therapeutic activities at our centre. Once children with special needs begin an Intervention program, they receive a great deal of therapy. It is essential to implement the same therapy at home, to provide children with consistency and to teach that the learned behaviors must be utilized everywhere. The children with autism clearly benefit a lot when their Maids, Parents and Caretaker receive such training so that they can implement the same at home.
Program will train and equip the Maids, Parents and Caretaker to reinforce and adapt what new skills learned, as well as counseling that will help their family at home to adjust to these new learning for a child with special needs. So we welcome the interested Maids, Parents and Caretaker to benefit from this arrangement for children with specific need child.
